DISH OF THE DAY – DIGITAL TILE DESIGN

Using the latest digital technology, Digital Ceramic Solutions has supplied ceramic tiles with a bespoke design for the Cheltenham branch of nationwide restaurant chain.

The restaurants are lively themed Spanish restaurants and Tapas bars. The ceramic tiles produced by Digital Ceramic Solutions (DCS) featured specially commissioned designs incorporating traditional Spanish motifs for a feature wall of the bar display.

Architects for the project Johnson Robson, were looking for an alternative to paint, for a low maintenance, long lasting finish to the walls but at the same time create cost effective bespoke designs. Ceramic tiles were specified to create an interior that would withstand the demands of the restaurant environment but also match with the restaurant design style.

Furthermore, because of the digital technology used by DCS, the company was able to reproduce bespoke images onto the tiles cost effectively and within short timescales. Digital Ceramic Solutions reduced both time and cost to viable levels and meant major cost savings in terms of production cost and project management time for the client.

Digital Ceramic Solutions can produce a simulation of a design in ceramic within a few days of receiving artwork so a client can see how it will look before committing cost to the project.

In addition, due to the technology used, DCS is able to go from approved artwork to finished mural/tile within 4 weeks which is a lot faster than other processes involving ceramics, thus saving significantly on the cost of design and manufacture. Images can also be of a very high resolution thus reproducing an original artist’s creation better than ever before and giving total design freedom. Any hotel, restaurant or corporate office can have its own original design.

All products supplied are high fired ceramics and meet industry specifications for colour fast and durability, retaining an attractive appearance for life.
